We publish all sorts of place-based writing, from reports of psychogeographic walks through edgeland areas, to fiction about distinctive places and the people who live there. To get a feel for what we like, take a look at some of the pieces we’ve already published.

Format

We’re looking for pieces of around 500 to 2,000 words. We’re very flexible when it comes to length, but that’s what we aim for with most of the pieces we publish. We publish fiction and creative non-fiction. We don’t publish poems on their own, but love seeing poetry and hybrid writing as part of a longer piece.

We love seeing a complex approach to a subject, but we aren’t an academic journal. We ideally want everything we publish to be readable by a general audience.

Feel free to send work either as an attachment (DOC, DOCX or RTF) or pasted in the body of the email. If you have photos feel free to include those too (JPG, PNG, GIF) – we love stories with images. The address is info@liminalresidency.co.uk.

Please include a brief biography (around 50-100 words), and links to any other works you have published online, or anything that you’d like to promote.

Terms

We can’t currently pay for pieces published, but we’re happy to take reprints, so please feel free to publish your work with a paying market before sending it to us. Simultaneous submissions are fine, as are multiple submissions if you think you have several things that might speak to us.

We do try and get back to everyone within a month or two, but if it takes longer it’s usually because we like what we’ve read and we want to re-read it.

If we fall in love with your work and want to feature it we’ll publish your bio and links along with your piece, and promote you and your work as much as possible. We’ll send you copies of our latest Residency Books if you’d like them, and we’ll follow and champion you on Twitter and Instagram.
